Men Speak:

“It’s OK to Heal”

An uplifting speaking event created to inspire and instigate positive change for men. Men Speak has been developed through the experience and delivery of men’s events, workshops and trainings run by Stone Thrower Health and Fitness. A common thread that has emerged through the delivery of men’s work is that men often don’t know where to start, they feel trapped. Many men are under immense pressure as they work tirelessly to keep their heads above water to keep their lives afloat and provide for their families. Even the thought of adding a ‘wellness’ practice to their daily routine can be enough to turn burnout into breakdown…

Men Speak: “It’s OK to heal” acts as a doorway for men to observe change. It is a low stress environment where men (and women) can listen to stories of change, healing and self-development. Storytelling is a very effective, age-old educational and cultural practice. Men Speak brings this tradition alive with real stories, from real men retelling the unique pathway that got them through the tough times.

Guest speakers at these events are chosen because they have overcome personal difficulties that many men face - stress, self sabotage addiction, anxiety, alcoholism, depression, self hatred, , and burn out…

These men are fine examples in the application of self healing. Self healing is the application of tools and practices to guide oneself into healthy and well states of being. Each person is unique and requires a certain balance of compression and compassion. However, there are many common threads of what works, and what doesn’t work. Men Speak aims to clarify this for men and communities so they can take bigger strides within, on the journey of self empowerment and self development.

This speaking event also includes a question and answer section as well as an open forum where audience members are given the opportunity to share parts of their own stories and self discoveries. This is a powerful occasion for attendees to witness honest vulnerability and strength from within their own community. However, it is not compulsory for attendees to share in the open forum, a key aim for Men Speak is for attendees to feel comfortable to turn up and just listen. This is the starting point for many men to kick start their healing journey.
